Nylon braiding is made by tightly weaving thin nylon threads around the cable. This structure offers strong resistance to scuffs and abrasion, a real advantage for a cable that constantly rubs against other items in a backpack.

Silicone (or TPE) coating has a softer, more flexible feel; the cable bends more easily and tends to tangle less. It can be somewhat less resistant to friction against hard surfaces compared to nylon, though.

Aesthetically, nylon braided cables tend to look more premium, while silicone cables have a simpler, softer-touch feel. The choice largely comes down to personal preference, but for everyday bag use, nylon's durability advantage stands out.
